Chelsea’s Story

I had always wanted kids, but I definitely hadn’t planned on getting pregnant so early, I was only 18. After taking an at-home pregnancy test and finding it positive, I remembered a place my friend had mentioned she got help: the Pregnancy Resource Center. I wanted a second opinion so I drove there and met Tamara, my counselor. After going over all my options I had made my decision: I would carry and parent my child. Right away I started preparing, but around two and a half months everything changed. I was scared and confused. I didn’t love the father or my baby. I panicked. I called Tamara and told her how afraid I was, and informed her that I had an appointment at an abortion clinic the next day. Friday, I went to the clinic and had an abortion.

The next year I found myself pregnant again. I was torn between the father’s desire to abort and my choice the year before that was still haunting me. I desperately wanted to keep this baby.
